France continues to influence studios and trainings with Culture Minister Rima Abdul Malak, who is presenting 68 projects selected for the €350m Great Image Factory initiative in Cannes on Friday (May 19).

The selected projects, selected from 175, include 11 film studios, 12 animation studios, 6 video game studios, five visual effects and post-production studios, and 34 teaching and learning institutions and cover 12 regions from Lille to Nantes, Guadeloupe and Martinique.

The Great Image Factory is part of the French government's €54bn plan for 2030, with over €2.4bn already invested in French production in 2022, in addition to €600m for international filming, up 48% than in 2021. France is stepping up efforts to become a major international manufacturing and distribution center.

“Our goal is to become a global leader and double the footprint of our studios in France,” said Abdul Malak during a rain-drenched crowded CNC event on the beach, adding: “We are living in a new golden age of film and audiovisual technology. production. This is an exceptional moment of opportunity for France… we need the industry to be robust and future-proof.”
